Privacy Policy for Spell Bee
1. Introduction
Spell Bee is a spelling practice app designed for children, including children under the age of 13. The app helps children practise spelling through clues, hints, word reveal, difficulty levels, and progress tracking.
We take children’s privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and how parents or guardians can contact us.
2. Information We Collect
Spell Bee collects only the minimum information needed to provide the spelling practice experience.
When a user registers, we collect:
- Chosen username
- Password, stored in protected hashed form
- Spelling progress, such as words attempted, correct answers, wrong answers, and memorized words
- Session information required to keep the user logged in
We do not ask children to provide their real name, email address, phone number, address, school name, photo, voice recording, or location.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
Spell Bee does not collect:
- Real name of the child
- Email address of the child
- Phone number
- Home address
- Precise location
- Photos or videos
- Camera data
- Microphone recordings
- Contacts
- Advertising ID for targeted advertising
- Payment information
4. How We Use Information
We use the collected information only to:
- Create and manage a user account
- Save spelling progress
- Show memorized word count
- Show correct and wrong answer counts
- Allow the user to continue learning across sessions
- Improve the learning experience inside the app
We do not use children’s information for advertising, profiling, behavioural tracking, or selling data.
5. Children Under 13 and Parental Consent
Spell Bee is intended for use by children with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian.
Because the app may be used by children under 13, parents or guardians should create or supervise the creation of the account. The app only uses a chosen username and password for login and progress saving. Children should not use their real name, email address, school name, or any other personal information as their username.
Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to request review or deletion of their child’s account and progress data.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade children’s information.
We do not share children’s information with advertisers.
We may use infrastructure providers, such as hosting and database services, only to operate the app. These services are used to store the app data and make the app available online.
7. Advertising and Tracking
Spell Bee does not show third-party advertisements.
Spell Bee does not use targeted advertising.
Spell Bee does not track users across other apps or websites.
8. Analytics
Spell Bee does not currently use third-party analytics SDKs.
If analytics are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such analytics are used, and any analytics used for children will comply with applicable children’s privacy rules and Google Play policies.
9. Data Storage and Security
User account and progress data are stored securely in the app database.
Passwords are not stored as plain text. Passwords are stored using a hashed format with a salt.
We use reasonable technical measures to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no online service can guarantee complete security.
10. Data Retention
We keep account and progress data only as long as needed to provide the spelling practice service.
Parents or guardians may request deletion of a child’s account and progress data by contacting us. After receiving a deletion request, we will delete the account and associated progress data within a reasonable time.
11. Parent and Guardian Rights
Parents and guardians may contact us to:
- Ask what information is stored about their child
- Request correction of the information
- Request deletion of the child’s account
- Request that no further information be collected from the child
12. Third-Party Links
Spell Bee does not intentionally include external links for children to browse other websites.
If any link is added in the future, it will be reviewed to ensure it is appropriate for children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Children should use a simple nickname or username and should not enter their real name, school name, email address, home address, or phone number in the app.
